MLS franchises lead the list of Most Attractive Employers among US sports teams

Eight Major League Soccer franchises appear in the list of the Top 20 Most Attractive Employers in Sport, among American sports teams, according to a survey conducted by the Switzerland-based company iWorkinSport.

The MLS clubs are joined by seven NBA teams, three NFL franchises and two Major League Baseball sides.

The study surveyed more than a thousand people from all continents, with the majority already working in sport, and asked them a simple question: “If you could choose to work anywhere in sport, where would that be?”

At first, the respondents chose organisations divided into nine categories, and at the end, they indicated one single preferred choice, overall – the “Employer of their Dreams”.

iWorkinSport Founder and CEO, Joao Frigerio, explains: “The iWorkinSport audience, which replied to the survey, is largely international and very strong in soccer-dominated markets. However, it’s important to point out that if we only consider the answers from residents of the United States, three of the Top 5 choices still were MLS clubs, while one team from the NBA and one from the MLB completed the ranking.” He added: "Although it's still relatively small in the USA, soccer has shown the strongest market growth among the major American sports leagues in recent years, and with the approach of the 2026 World Cup, interest in the sport is expected to continue to grow. I believe that's what makes the MLS clubs so appealing for those wanting to develop a career in sport."

In the category Sports Teams in the USA*, the 20 most voted organisations, in alphabetical order, were:

Atlanta United FC (MLS)
Boston Celtics (NBA)
Boston Red Sox (MLB)
